Maple Hills (Ancient Dutch: Esdoornheuvels) is a Libertan English language town on the countryside, in the Esdoornheuvels province. It is a silent and relaxing place where farmers, travelers and people who like the quietness can live together with nature. It's named after the typical Canadian maple tree, of which maple syrup is made. In fact, the maple leaf is the symbol of the town and the dominant family: the Neyt Family. The Mayor is Dimitri hr. Neyt, former Libertan Vice President.
The town of Maple Hills looks a lot like a typical Canadian or an American Rocky Mountain village. Most houses are made out of wood - with a porch - and painted in dark red. The official buildings are mostly Neogrec or Palladian style.
Maple Hills is very famous because of the vineyards surrounding it. The Rodine Castle is very popular in Libertas and especially here. This is one of the reasons of the major tourist attraction. The tourist accommodations are good, and especially Hotel 't Haasje is popular.

[bewerken] History
Maple Hills is one of Lovia's oldest rural places. When Wikicity (then named Wikistadt) became a large city, many inhabitants moved out, looking for a quite and peaceful environment. In the late Middle Ages several citizens started up villages in the neighborhood of th capital, but only one village was constructed that far away of Wikicity: Esdoornheuvels (literally meaning Maple Hills). The small village in the eastern hill lands became a hot spot for farmers and new migrants. French and English wine makers moved to this place and started their own vineyard within the surroundings of the town.
In the eighteenth century the village growth slowed down and the youth moved back to the cities. Many mayors tried to get Maple Hills back to life, but most failed. Until 1905, when Mayor Hugo Noble, a relative to HRH King Dimitri I of Lovia and a far relative to Dimitri hr. Neyt, wrote his Maple Hills Life Plan. As the plan was enacted, the town revived and became a popular location again. The streets were renamed and most houses were renovated, personally financially supported by the Mayor. The name changed from Esdoornheuvels to Maple Hills, keeping in mind that more than 55% of the Maple Hillian population was English languaged.
Yet again, after Mayor Noble's term, the town's size and attractian slowly reduced. The World Wars did not support the growth and the male population between 18 and 24 went to war, supporting their American and British ancestors. After World War II, some returned and restarted their occupations within the town. Maple Hills life went on for decades, until the Revolution of 2007, in which Robin Libertatis and Dimitri hr. Neyt threw over the old government. Maple Hills supported the heroes of the revolution all along, as Dimitri hr. Neyt was a true Maple Hillian. He became Mayor shortly after the revolution and renewed the town. He made it a popular place again, with many tourist features. In 2008 small renovations were made again, mostly to increase the quality of life in the village.
[bewerken] Local politics
Dimitri hr. Neyt is the Maple Hills Mayor. He made a popular and attractive location out of the farmer's village, listed high on the Libertan popularity index. Even in Adlibita and Lovia this town is famous and many tourists go all the way down to Maple Hills when visiting Wikicity.
